Fragment 14

Fragment 14 is a piece for 5 dancers lasting 55 minutes

“Beauty is like a God,
a fragment of Beauty is Beauty itself”
Auguste Rodin

A fragment - a part of something broken, torn or shattered. One synonym for this, the word ‘debris’, reveals the intrinsic violence within this term as it alludes to an injury, pain or a loss and at the same time suggests something useless that would be thrown away without regret. Alternatively, it could refer to a relic, a part of something with incalculable value: the part that leads to the whole, the memory of something that could have been lost forever.

The fragment as an impulse that affects all the scenic languages deployed on stage to reveal the many faces and ambivalence of the concept.
